Waterview Ridge > Golf
Courses overlook both Port Phillip and Western Port bays as well as the unpredictable seas of Bass Strait. They are built along the peninsula's own sand belt, cliff tops and nestled among the rolling hills of the hinterland.
Recognition of the peninsula's golfing reputation has led to the Australian Golf Union establishing new headquarters at Moonah Links, Rye, venue for the Australian Open. Moonah has two 18-hole courses and a resort.
Other top clubs include The National, at Cape Schanck, the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere with its three 18-hole courses (one designed by champion Greg Norman); The Dunes, Rye, winner of several national and state awards (compared to class British links with wind affected fairways and unpredictable greens); Portsea, with its slimline fairways and trees surrounding every hole; and the famous clifftop course at Flinders, still celebrating its centenary.
Close to Waterview Ridge is Mt Martha's own public course which overlooks Port Phillip and rolling hills across the eastern peninsula.
Devilbend (10 minutes by car from Waterview Ridge) is a challenging course in rural Moorooduc. Golf courses on the peninsula provide the outlook and challenge to suit every golfer.
