Waterview Ridge > Nature & the Great Outdoors
The protective rocky point is a great place to explore, with rock pools attracting divers and anglers.
Picnic grounds and barbecues at the Balcombe Creek estuary make a starting off point for the boardwalk which leads inland to The Briars Historic Park. Once at the park visit the homestead with its collection of Napoleonic memorabilia, watch birds on the wetlands or stroll along bush trails spotting koalas and other resident native animals and birds.
The beaches and cliffs of Mt Martha and Mornington are part of the peninsula's 192 kilometres of coast which varies from the quiet mangroves of Western Port to the crashing surf of Bass Strait between Flinders and Portsea. The string of bathing beaches inside Port Phillip include Portsea, Sorrento, Rye, Rosebud and Dromana and Safety Beach.
The coastal Mornington Peninsula National Park begins at Flinders and ends at Point Nepean, with a large inland section near Cape Schanck. Seawinds Park at the top of Arthurs Seat has 180 degree views of Port Phillip and a collection of works by sculptor, William Ricketts.
All sporting facilities are close to Mt Martha and there is virtually no limit to water-based activities, including fly, beach, rock and deep sea angling.
